Negatives Evaluation

1. Out of all my eleven negatives i think that only nine came out right.
2. There were only two negatives that turned out really bad then the rest. I think that they came out bad because they were out of focus and bad composition.
3. I think that my tenth image will come out good when i print it out because it looks clear and its in focus.
4. The aspect that makes my image look good is focus because you can tell whats in the image is and tell what the people are doing.
5. The technique i used was leading lines by the straight desks showing the direction they are all going.

Photo Manipulation and ethics

 A. Brian Walski and other photographers had manipulated images to make them look different from their actual way. For example photographer Menahem Kahana had removed two female ministers from an actual picture and put two men to show an all men cabinet. The people that do this kind of image manipulation are fired and get their images taken away. This paragraph tells us that about 80 image were manipulated during that year.
B. I don't think that doing this kind of things is acceptable because its like if you were faking a signature. When you are a photographer you need to show the real things that are happening and not what people are expecting to see.
A. This image is the most unethical because its showing that the people in the army treat Iraq people wrong. This image is also trying to show that the people are scared of the army guy and don't want to get harmed.
B. This was them least unethical image because why would someone just change the measurements of the pyramids. I don't think that it was necessary to change the positions of the pyramids because for National Geography you are trying to show real life images not fake ones

Making a Black and White print.

Secure the lens in the enlarger head, which sits directly above the base. Rotate the aperture ring on the lens and switch on the enlarger light. Raise or lower the enlarger head using a knob located on the right side of the enlarger. Focus the light using a knob found just to the right of the lens until a rectangle of even light covers the baseboard. Switch off the enlarger light. Place a sheet of print paper on the baseboard or shiny side up. Place negatives emulsion-side-up on top of the print paper and lay a piece of glass over the negatives to hold them in place.Set the enlarger timer for 10 seconds. Time will vary depending on the density of the negative. Switch on the timer. After the print paper has been exposed, remove it and place it in a developer tray.

Place the exposed print paper in the developer tray. Take the paper out of the developer with tongs. Let all excess liquid drain off of the paper before placing it in the stop bath tray. Place in stop bath tray, leaving resin coated paper in the stop bath for 15 seconds and fiber based paper for 30 seconds. Take paper out of the stop bath and place in fixer for 1 to 2 minutes for resin-coated paper and 2 to 10 minutes for fiber-based paper. Remove from fixer and place in wash for 2 to 5 minutes when using resin-coated paper and 30 to 60 minutes when using fiber-based paper. Take out of wash and place on drying cabinet.

1. emulsion- a composition sensitive to some or all of the actinic rays of light, consisting of one or more of the silver halides suspended in gelatin, applied in a thin layer to one surface of a film or the like.
2. aperture- an opening, as a hole, slit, crack, gap, etc.
3. masking easel- Baseboard of an enlarger that holds photographic paper flat during exposure
4. exposure- the total amount of light received by a photosensitive surface or an area of such a surface, expressed as the product of the degree of illumination and the period of illumination.
5. safe light- a darkroom light with a filter that transmits only those rays of the spectrum to which films, printing paper, etc., are not sensitive.
6. dodging- Also, hold back. Photography . (in printing) to shade (an area of a print) from exposure for a period, while exposing the remainder of the print in order to lighten or eliminate the area
7. burning-Burn in, Photography . (in printing) to expose (one part of an image) to more light by masking the other parts in order to darken and give greater detail to the unmasked area. Also, print in

Post Shoot Reflection

1. The challenges i had to face during my first journalism assignment was that some people didn't want me to take them pictures. When i would ask them if i could take pictures of them they would turn around and shake their heads. So i had to go to another room and just get random people even if they didn't want to. That's when they just kept on working and didn't really mind me taking them pictures.

2. I had trouble focusing the camera but then i got it to work and i think i did take good pictures. The thing that kept me thinking was that if i was taking them right and for them not to come out blurry. When i was taking pictures i was trying not to move a lot but at the same time no to take long focusing the camera.

3. While shooting the pictures i was trying to follow the rule of thirds and merges. Those were the rules that i remembered while taking the pictures. I don't know if i did follow the rules right but i was trying to take the pictures the way i thought it looked good while using the two rules i remembered.

4. Next time i take pictures i will try to follow mostly all the rules we learned in class. I will also take my time in focusing the camera a little more so the pictures come out better. Also try to take diffrent kinds of pictures and not the same position.

Funny captions - learning how to do it RIGHT!

Free cat just come and claim him and he will be yours right away. He can be a great friend and likes to play with string. Just make sure to take him a bath because he has this dead animal smell but he will be okay. Oh and don't leave him near dogs he makes them allergic.
Robert the chicken: "Mother Plucker trying to get to close to me like if he wants to kiss me!" Ego: "hmm for some reason we look alike but i don't know what it is." Robert: "If he gets any closer to me I'm going to poke his eye out"
Adah thought that it would be fun to run towards the birds and scare them away.  When she did the birds flew away, then turned around and flew fast towards Adah. The birds attacked her and started chirping which in their language, they were trying to say operation Chinese done, now who's the one that's chirping last.

What the pros are doing - Repetition

Stormy Weather
During a break in the rain, Brazilians take a walk on a flooded soccer field in Rio de Janeiro
This is a great example of repetition because of the shapes in it and the derection they are going. The people in the image are leading us inside the picture by showing us were they are heading and the movement of the other people in the back.

Wet Weather
Haitians climb on a bus during a flood on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince after tropical storm Noel hit the impoverished Caribbean nation.
This image shows repetition because of the windows in the bus they are leading the way towards the mountains in the back. The clouds in the picture also show repetition because they are showing us the direction they are going to.

Lighting the Way
Darren Choy of Singapore carries the Youth Olympic torch at the Opening Ceremony of the 2010 Youth Olympics held in Singapore's Marina Bay.
This image shows repetition because the movement of the water and the shapes of the little waves the boy is making. Since we can see these kinds of movements we know what derection the boy is going and it leads us trough the picture. This is why this is another great picture showing repetition.
