Portrait and self-portrait tips and ideas.

  • Think about your motivation and emotions: Blankly staring at the camera rarely gets good results. Be silly, don’t be afraid to over-act. The worst that can happen is that you fill up your memory card with useless photos; but you might also find yourself with a proper gold-nugget of a self portrait.
  • Use a tripod. Seriously. While it’s possible to get good photos while you’re hanging on to your camera at arms-length, it’s a lot easier if you've got the freedom to move around a bit.
  • Have fun with it. Be sexy. Be yourself. Be awesome. Be different. Be creative. Whatever you do, have fun with it. That’s part of the point, after all.
Environmental
I chose this picture because its a good example of self portrait it only focuses on the kid in the image. I also chose it because it follows the rule of thirds and you have one object showing in the other half of the image.
I also chose this image as a environmental self portrait because you focus on the person in this photo. I like this image because of the background and how the trees in the back show a little depth.

Photography Self-Portrait
I chose this image because even with the camera close to her face you can tell who she is and what parts are behind the camera. I also chose this image as self portrait because you focus on her and not on the background.
I think this is another great picture of self portrait because we can tell that they took the picture by them self. This is also a good self-portrait because its cropped and you can still tell who this person is with out needing to see his hole body.
Casual Portrait
This is a good example of Casual Portrait because you focus on the child and you can see depth in the background of this image.
Stephen Loves Scarlett Lillan
This is another great example of a casual portrait because you can tell in what kind of place they are but it doesn't focus on the background. I also chose this image because it looks pretty how they came out and the setting they chose.

I took pictures of me in the courtyard of Akins H.S and after that i went to take some pictures of my friends. When i took my pictures i tried to do some close ups and show some background but not to much so it will not lose focus. Then when i went to take some pictures of my friends i tried to do the same thing but in a different setting so not all the pictures would come out the same. I used the hallways of Akins H.S and the courtyard to take my self-portrait pictures.
